The Rat Snake is native to North America, and fully grown can reach 6 feet in length. Typically quite docile, they are part of the Corn Snake family and have similar care requirements, making them good pets.
Company for Rat Snakes
Typically, Rat Snakes are quite solitary and are quite content to live by themselves. Males will fight with each other.
Life Span
Rat snakes have been known to live up to 15 years in captivity. Breeding females may actually have a shorter life expectancy.
