One in three dogs are overweight – is yours? This is the question being asked by Petmania this week as they launch Operation TransPAWmation in stores across the country.

Aimed at encouraging pet owners to think about their dog’s overall health and wellbeing, Petmania remind us that being overweight can have a serious negative impact on our dog’s health, with over weight dogs being more at risk of illnesses like Type 2 Diabetes, Heart & Respiratory Illness, Kidney Disease, Osteoarthritis and Cancer.

 Signing up to Operation TransPAWmation is easy too. The first step is to bring your dog to meet with one of Petmania’s certified weight management advisors and have your dog’s weight checked. Combining weight with a Body Condition Score, Petmania’s team will let you know if your dog’s weight needs some special attention. If your dog is overweight, the Operation TransPAWmation team at Petmania will set you up a Personalised Programme which looks at diet and exercise for your dog.

Each participant will receive a goody bag which contains digital weighing scales to help get your dog’s portion size under control as well as on-going free support and guidance with regular check-ins part of the programme. Dog’s that reach their goal will also receive a special rosette, as well as a start towards a happier, healthier life, both inside and out!
