Beautiful Galway ‘Cloud’ is the Petmania Puppy of the Year 2020

BEAUTIFUL GALWAY ‘CLOUD’ IS PETMANIA PUPPY OF THE YEAR

When Petmania launched the Petmania Puppy of the Year 2020 competition at the end of September we couldn’t have imagined the response that the competition received. In three weeks over 1100 puppies entered the competition, all hoping to claim the 2020 title, and over €1500 worth of prizes.

After week of voting, and 10’s of thousands of public votes, on Friday 13th November we announced our 13 finalists, one representing each of our 13 stores.

Our puppy’s parents submitted videos and photos to our judges, who deliberated on Thursday to choose the overall winner. Making the decision was extremely difficult, but decide we did, and we are delighted to name Cloud, a Greengrass Lurcher, from Galway the Petmania Puppy of the Year 2020.

The talented, obedient pooch has scooped up prizes worth over €1,500 including 12 month’s grooming at Petmania Grooming Studio in Galway, a year’s food from Nutrition Partner Beta and a luxury staycation to the dog-friendly Enniscoe House, Mayo with its humans thanks to Ireland’s Blue Book Hotels.

Cloud is now the reigning champion and becomes the face of Petmania Ireland for 2020/21 and will feature in her own professional photoshoot. Each of the finalists representing Petmania’s 12 stores nationwide and its online store www.petmania.ie received a finalist’s rosette and gift from the competition partner, pet food manufacturer, BETA.

Cloud is a little ray of sunshine and already a social media star with her own Insta-account,  www.instagram.com/cloud_the_hound. Her favourite song is Hound Dog by Elvis Pawsley, her favourite film is “K-9” and her special talents include, receiving belly rubs, posing for the camera, playing fetch and eating until her little belly is swollen!

Aine and her partner, Dathaí already had Cloud’s older sibling Maya but she was so lonely in lockdown, having to socially distance from her brother Finn, that the couple decided to adopt Cloud at the beginning of October and now two dogs are now best friends.

Cloud really stood out to all of the judges  of this year’s Puppy of the Year. She’s a beautiful puppy who has developed the most amazing family bond with her big sister Maya and her human parents Daithi and Aine.

Her family story of separation during 2020 resonated with all the judges and the light that she has brought to her family reminds us all that despite everything that is happening at the moment, that we will prevail and get to see our loved ones again soon. Not only that, but her humans have made sure she is growing up to be well mannered, full of personality, and despite her stunning looks not in the least a diva.

We can’t wait to welcome into our Grooming Studio in Galway and we are delighted to have Cloud on our team.
