Keeping a Food Diary for Your Cat

Keeping a food diary can help you monitor the food and treats you are feeding and understand where your cat is getting extra calories from, and helping you to set your pet on the right track to maintaining a healthy Body Condition Score and weight.

Download Our Food Diary

Download our food diary and use it to record all of your cat’s meals and treats to help find a pattern for when and why your cat may be getting the extra calories that are leading to his excessive weight gain.

  1. Tracking Portion Size against the recommended feeding amount by your cat food manufacturer will help you identify if you are feeding the recommended portion size
  2. Recording Treats and Treat Size will help you find the reasons that you are using treats, and will help u you identify ways that you can reduce treat size, or replace edible treats with alternative rewards
  3. Monitoring Feeding Time(s) will help you to identify your cat’s feeding routine, and perhaps will highlight reasons for over-feeding.

Continuing to track your cat’s food, and the adjustments that you have to his feeding plan, will help you to make healthier decisions for your cat.

If your cat’s Body Condition Score registers as 7 or above, any weight loss programme must be carried out under veterinary supervision.
