Petmania launches Pet Care Advice Centre for World Animal Week

Dr Bobby Ortiz, aka ‘Dogtor Bob’ announced as brand ambassador

Irish pet care specialist, Petmania, has launched a free online resource for pet owners. World Animal Week is celebrated from 4th – 10th October , a time dedicated to raising the status of animals in order to improve welfare standards around the globe.

The Irish-owned pet retailer is committed to providing the best care and advice to pet owners. Today, Petmania is sharing its expertise via its new Pet Care Advice Centre, a free resource of helpful advice, tips and specialist knowledge build from 15 years of caring for pets health needs across its 15 stores in Ireland.

Pet-parents can log in for helpful information on health, diet, training, grooming, important developmental milestones and care advice for their pets. From cats and dogs to guinea pigs, bunnies, tropical fish and more exotic species, geckos, lizards, bearded dragons and more, Petmania has an extensive library of advice for pet owners.

Petmania has assembled a team of some of Ireland’s top pet experts including Dawn Greer, a Championship level Agility Trainer who has represented Ireland at Crufts and small animal vet Carol Doyle. Now joining the panel of contributors who lend their knowledge to Petmania’s Pet Care Advice Centre is the newly appointed ambassador, Dr Bobby Ortiz, aka ‘Dogtor Bob’.

‘Dogtor Bob’ is a small and exotic animal veterinarian surgeon based in Dublin. His area of speciality is exotic animals including birds, fish, reptiles and small mammals. Dr Bobby has a particular grá for small mammals like rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and ferrets.

He grew up in California in a family of avid animal lovers, which led him to work in Long Beach Aquarium. Having earned his degree in Marine Biology and Biochemistry from Hawaii Pacific University, Bobby came to Ireland to study Veterinary Medicine at University College Dublin. Bobby is also a qualified classical musician. He married his Irish love, Emma, in September 2021. The newlyweds live in Dublin with their three year-old Brittany Spaniel named Bodhi.
