Why is dental care for dogs important?

Dogs love using their mouth-they play, eat, as well as lift and move objects. Therefore, it’s essential that their teeth and gums are looked after properly and given the correct dental care.

It’s not just keeping the bad breath and yellow teeth at bay-cleaning your dog’s teeth is essential to prevent issues like gingivitis (an inflammation of the gums) and periodontal disease which can lead to heart, liver and kidney issues, as well as tooth loss.

Fortunately, there are many ways to ensure your dog’s teeth are kept in good condition.  Brushing your dog’s teeth regularly with a toothbrush and doggie friendly toothpaste is the most efficient method of keeping their mouth clean and removing any leftover food between the teeth.

Certain toys and treats that are specially formulated to decrease any bacteria in your dog’s mouth can also help with their dental care.

Just as we clean our own teeth every day, it’s important we give the same dental care to our pets too.

The Ultrasonic Dental Clean for Dogs

This service is a silent, vibration-free way of removing bacteria and plaque particles from your dog’s mouth. It is designed to help maintain your dog’s overall oral health and avoid serious illnesses such as gingivitis, periodontitis and oral cavity diseases caused from excessive plaque and tartar build-up.

It is recommended to be used in conjunction with your at home dental care routine and is not a substitute for veterinary treatments. If you suspect your dog is displaying any signs of poor oral health, please contact your local veterinarian for recommended treatments.

We recommend this treatment at least once every 4 weeks to establish a regular toothbrushing routine. It is suitable for all puppies and adult dogs (not suitable for dogs with advanced Gingivitis (red, swollen gums) or Periodontitis (Bleeding, Loose Teeth, Sensitivity to Touch / Pain, Excessive Drooling)

What Is Involved in the Ultrasonic Dental Clean?

For our dental care service, it is split into 3 separate categories: their ­first dental visit (approx 45mins), an ultrasonic tooth brushing (approx 30 mins), and three new dental care plans (Smile, Shine, and Sparkle). The ­first dental visit is designed to comfortably introduce your dog to the world of Petmania dental care, and is essentially like a consultation where they are eased into the sensations in order to make sure they are comfortable throughout the entire process.

Firstly, we examine their mouth area to see what condition their teeth and gums are in and from there, we start their very fi­rst ultrasonic tooth brushing.

For the ultrasonic tooth brushing, we go through each tooth individually and brush along the gum line to remove any build-up of food particles, tartar and bacteria.

And once that is all done, we give your doggie a dental foam wash to make their breath nice and fresh for when they return home.
