1. Glen of Aherlow
The Glen of Aherlow is a gorgeous place for afternoon walks with your dog, with numerous low-level mountain walks that offer an abundance of beautiful scenery. The two-loop walk trail heads features 8 walks, ranging from 2 to 10km. Each walk allows you to take in the spectacular views over to the Galtee Mountains. It’s an ideal spot for any dog lover!
2. Carden’s Folly & Devil’s Bit Loop
Explore this 4.5-km loop trail near Borrisnafarney, County Tipperary. This is a popular trail for birding, hiking, and mountain biking, but you and your dog can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. The mixture of heather coniferous trees and bare rock along with the great views make it an enjoyable outdoors activity.
3. Templemore Park
Situated just off the main square in Templemore, this beautiful park offers a free outdoor experience for every family member. Templemore park is a wonderful place to spend time unwinding, walking and observing the beautiful wildlife all around with your four legged pal. With gorgeous fairy trails, beautiful fountains and picnic tables to enjoy some al fresco dining, this is the perfect spot for some weekend family fun.
4. Glengarra Wood Loop
This trail takes dog walkers down the Burncourt River and into the Millennium Forest, past the An Óige Mountain Lodge Hostel, and contains a wide diversity of trees, plants, and animals, as well as a number of observation spots with excellent views out over the lowlands to the Knockmealdown Mountains. Ensure your dogs must be kept on a leash at all times.
5. Bansha Wood
You and your pooch can enjoy the panoramic views of counties Tipperary, Cork, and Limerick. Situated on the eastern end of Slievenamuck hill, there are a wide variety of tree species present for you and your four legged pal to enjoy, including some impressive stands of Scot’s pine and old woodland restoration sites which favour oak and other native species.
