To decide who progresses through each round, the public will vote for their favourite puppy in-store* and online. 

*Only counties with physical Petmania stores will have in-store voting.

How will voting work?

In Round 1, all puppies who entered will appear online through their county’s voting page or in-store on a Puppy of the Year display board.

The top 5 voted puppies from each county will progress into Round 2. There will also be 1 wildcard puppy from each county that will also progress into Round 2.

In Round 2, voting will open again (setting all vote counts to 0) and the top voted puppy from each county will progress and be invited to the Grand Final on Saturday 18th October at Pet Expo Ireland.

Round 1 Voting will take place:

  • From 6:00pm Tuesday 16th September 2025
  • Until 11:59pm Sunday 28th September 2025

Round 2 Voting will take place:

  • From 6:00pm Tuesday 30th September 2025
  • Until 11:59pm Thursday 9th October 2025

*Voting will commence in-store the following day from 9.30am for both Round 1 and Round 2.

To vote online:

  1. Select a county
  2. Click “vote now” to be redirected to the county’s voting page
  3. Select an entry from the gallery to open a voting card
  4. Click vote
  5. Enter a valid email address and submit vote.

To vote in-store:

  1. Visit the Petmania store in the county you entered
  2. Find your favourite puppy on the display board
  3. Ask for a voting card from our team
  4. Write down the full name of your favourite puppy
  5. Place your completed voting card into the voting box.

Please note counties with no physical Petmania store will not be at a disadvantage, as puppies will only be competing within their respective counties. E.g. Puppies in Cork will only be only competing with other puppies in Cork for Round 1 and Round 2

For easier navigation, all entrants will receive an email with unique voting links for their entry, which will quickly bring you straight to your voting card. These can then be shared on your social media pages to bring your friends/family/followers to your puppy’s voting card.

Online voting is limited to once per 24 hours. If you vote at 2:30pm today, you cannot vote until 2:31pm tomorrow. In-store voting is limited to once per calendar day.

You can vote for as many puppies as you like in one day, but not more than once for the same puppy.

Tips on maximising your number of votes

  1. Set an alarm on your phone for the same time every day to ensure you never forget to vote.
  2. Tell your friends, family, customers and co-workers about the competition, and don’t forget to share your puppy’s unique voting link for quick and easy voting (sent via email when voting opens).
  3. Vote in-store* where possible. At the end of each round, in-store and online votes will be combined to get a total number of votes. This has made the difference for many entries every year since this competition has began!
  4. Does your pet have a social media account? Or maybe your place of work likes to share furry friends on their social pages? Make sure to share your puppy’s link on every social platform you have to increase that awareness and get those all-important votes!
