PETMANIA LAUNCHES ‘ANIMAL RESCUE CENTRE’ CAMPAIGN URGING PEOPLE TO ‘PAWS FOR THOUGHT’
THOUSANDS OF DOGS AND CATS ARE WAITING TO BE REHOMED IN IRELAND
26th March 2018
Petmania has launched a new campaign in a bid to encourage potential new pet-parents to ‘Paws for Thought’ and consider animal adoption. The specialist pet retailer has partnered with Burns Pet Nutrition and animal rescue centres across Ireland to help find local homes for dogs and cats in need.
At any one time in Ireland, there are thousands of cats and dogs, waiting to be rehomed. At any one time in Ireland, there are thousands of cats and dogs, waiting to be rehomed. Due to the increasingly high numbers of animals being abandoned, rescue centres are struggling to cope with increased running costs and sufficient numbers of volunteers.
Having always worked closely with animal rescue centres across Ireland, the project will see Petmania continue to donate food supplies to each of their adoption centre partners. The Irish owned company has developed aftercare programmes for new pet-parents who have chosen to give a forever home to an abandoned or unwanted animal and become part of the Petmania adoptive family network.
Emily Miller, Marketing Manager with Petmania, says “Our ‘Paws for Thought’ campaign aims to encourage people to consider adopting a dog or cat, before buying one. Adoption is a great way for a family to bring home a new pet. We will soon be introducing a revised programme of support and discounts for new adoptive parents who adopt dogs or cats through our rescue partners, to help them and their pet’s transition into their new forever home.”
For every 15 KG of Burns Animal Food that is purchased throughout Petmania stores, 3 bowls of dog food will be donated to the adoption centres. The monthly donations of food will be distributed to the adoption partner centres from Petmania’s central warehouse in Kilkenny. New adoptive pet-parents will also be able to access exclusive discounts and free food from Burns, when they adopt a dog or cat from one of Petmania’s Adoption Partners.
“We are delighted to offer complimentary food to the dogs and cats out there that need it most. It is our belief that every pet deserves a happy and healthy home. By providing natural, high-quality pet food, we hope to take care of the healthy part so that Petmania can focus on giving pets a new lease of life and happiness.” says John Burns of Burns Pet Nutrition the official nutrition partner to the Petmania Adoption Centre programme.
Petmania’s official adoption partners are a network of local rescue centres, throughout 11 counties, who work tirelessly to find loving homes for homeless pets. In addition, Petmania hosts regular in-store adoption days where prospective pet-parents can meet the adoption partners and animals in search of a home.
Petmania has 12 stores nationwide in Kilkenny, Carlow, Laois, Offaly, Limerick, Waterford, Wexford, Galway, Meath, Dublin and Kerry. For a full list of their animal adoption centre partners or to find out more about the Petmania Adoptive Family network visit our website.
